The Men Who Laugh at Nine Worlds Geekfest

Nine Worlds is a new convention in London this weekend, 9 - 11 August. It's taking place at the Radisson and Renaissance hotels near London Heathrow from 3pm Friday until 11pm Sunday. Lots more info here. It's about gaming, film, cosplay, fandom, literature, science, geek culture and having a really big party.

...and alternative comics! According to the web site "Nine Worlds presents the coolest in alternative, small press and self-published comics." I'm not sure if we really fit that description (apart from the 'coolest' reference), but Mark Stafford and myself will be in attendance. Mark is featuring on a panel called "Men! Muscles, Machismo and Methodology: four generations of male comics creators discuss their experiences." The mind boggles...

That panel is on Friday at 5pm in the Somerset Room. Then Mark and myself have our own panel on Sunday morning. 10am in the Nimrod Room. That's the one entitled 'The Men Who Laughed.'

We'll be having a chat about our graphic novel adaptation of Victor Hugo's 'The Man Who Laughs' so please do come along if you want to know how we went about turning a classic work of literature into a graphic novel.

The book is published by SelfMadeHero and is available from all halfway decent comic and bookshops or from Amazon in the UK. An American edition will be appearing next year.
