Interview on Monkey Do Monkey Be

At this year's NICE convention in Bedford, the guys from MDMB interview Garth Ennis, Ian Churchill and myself and now some of the clips from those interviews are on Youtube. It's nice to see interviews professionally shot and edited. Here's my clip...

MCM EXPO - London

This weekend the Giant Beast of British Conventions, the MCM Expo, is once again flooding the Excel Centre in London with Cosplay, Comics and Pop Culture and I will be appearing all three days in the Comics Village...

Yep, that's me looking tired and tousled with a hazy view of Vietnam's Halong Bay in the background. I had to climb a mountain to get that view (well, a fairly steep hill) and it beats yet another shot of me gurning from behind a table loaded with my own comics at yet another convention.

If you're going to MCM, do drop by my table where you will find, among other fab stuff, The Man Who Laughs, illustrated by Mark Stafford and published by SelfMadeHero. If you buy a copy this weekend, you'll also get this free limited edition bookplate...

The Man Who Laughs at The Lakes

The Lakes Comic Art Festival kicks off this Friday and I'm really looking forward to it. There's a European feel to this one, closer to the Angouleme model than we are used to in the UK, with talks, panels, exhibitions, movies and so on spread across a number of venues. The guest line-up is splendid, with a lot of creators you don't usually see at UK conventions - José Munoz, Joe Sacco, Steve Bell and Posy Simmonds for instance.

I'll be appearing at a number of events:
Saturday 19th October 12.15 at The Brewery Arts Centre: Screen Two
Re-imagining the Classics - hosted by Alex Fitch of Resonance FM with myself, INJ Culbard, Rob Davis and Ilya.

Saturday 17.00 at The Box, Wildman Street: Watch Them Draw
I won't be drawing, but I will be chatting with David Bishop about my collaboration with Doug Braithwaite on Storm Dogs, while Doug is doing the drawing. This will include a Q and A session.

Saturday 20.00 at The Brewery Arts Centre, Screen Two: Rocking With Horror
Once again, Alex Fitch is chairing this session with Hannah Berry, Ian Culbard, Ravi Thornton and myself. I'm not entirely sure what has been planned for this session but no doubt something Lovecraftian will rear its ugly head.

I'll also be appearing throughout the weekend at The Comics Clock Tower where I'll be signing copies of The Man Who Laughs. The book has been nominated for Best Book of the Year at the British Comic Awards. If you buy a copy this weekend you will also get this wonderful print by the artist Mark Stafford for free.

It came from THE BOX...

I haven't done this for a while. Here are scans from some old comics I came across in that infamous old cardboard box under the bed. These comics are too tatty, taped and torn to be worth much - that Real Clue looks like the mice got at it - but I love them.
