It Came From The Box - Slow Death

Dredged up from the bottomless depths of the legendary Box of Old Stuff, here's a classic strip from the environmentally friendly SLOW DEATH #8 published by Last Gasp in 1977. The strip is written and drawn by the amazing Greg Irons, who tragically died in 1984 at the age of only 37. Cover art is by William Stout who thankfully is still with us...

Brett Ewins - Frustration

Here's a great Mod record from 1979. 'Frustration' by the Purple Hearts on Fiction Records. And as a bonus, the art is a classic Brett Ewins. One of my most treasured vinyls.

Comics For Beginners

Palle Schmidt is a very talented comics creator, writing and drawing graphic novels like The Devil's Concubine, (or Blodets Konkubine in the original Danish). It's available in English from IDW.

Available on Amazon UK Amazon US from Comixology or from a decent comic book store.

Now Palle is sharing his writing and drawing expertise on his new website Comics For Beginners, which features some highly professional free tutorials. I enjoyed them very much. Palle has a relaxed but highly informative style and the videos are very professionally produced. I hope to contribute to the site soon. Meanwhile, see what you learn from this sample tutorial...

Koh Hong Teng

Here's an artist I was introduced to by Lim Cheng Tju. Koh Hong Teng is one of the most amazing artists I've come across recently. His work is hard to get hold of. He contributed a piece to Sonny Liew's Malinky Robot and he illustrated Gone Case, written by Dave Chua and Ten Sticks and One Rice, written by Oh Yong Hwee. Track them down if you can. The pictures speak for themselves...
